Chinese carved root wood figure of Sun Wukong, the monkey-god, and four carved monkeys on his shoulder and at his feet, inlaid eyes, intricate base, one foot as is, 36" high. Sun Wukong accompanied the Buddhist pilgrim Xuan Cang to India and came to his rescue many times. Many temples were built to the monkey-god in South China.
